The new laboratory building of the Zhongshan Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, constructed by the Zhongshan Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, was recently completed, marking a significant step forward in the application of seismic-resistant technology in Zhongshan’s housing construction sector.
The new laboratory building of the Zhongshan Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention is located at No. 70 Changjiang Road, Dongqu Subdistrict, with a total construction area of 9,180.55 square meters. The project includes a new four-story microbiology laboratory building, a five-story physical and chemical laboratory building, a one-story domestic waste room and medical waste storage area, and a basement. As the first building project in Zhongshan’s housing construction sector to adopt seismic isolation layer design, this project represents an innovative breakthrough in construction technology.
According to the project leader, the project utilizes rubber seismic isolation bearing technology between the basement and the first floor. This innovative design can reduce seismic energy damage by approximately 80%, significantly improving the building’s seismic performance. The highly elastic restoring function of the isolation layer allows the building to quickly return to its initial position after an earthquake, effectively reducing the risk of equipment damage, enhancing disaster emergency response capabilities, and fully meeting the high seismic resistance requirements of critical infrastructure.
