The elastic sliding plate bearing isolates earthquakes and mitigates the seismic energy transmitted upwards by sliding horizontally on the sliding panel through the sliding material. It possesses high vertical bearing capacity and significant horizontal deformation capacity, and its horizontal displacement is unaffected by the height of the bearing. With limited vertical deformation, it is more suitable for seismic isolation in soft soil sites and is generally used in conjunction with other rubber seismic isolation bearings. During an earthquake, when the horizontal seismic shear force applied to the bearing exceeds the maximum static friction force of the sliding surface, the sliding surface begins to slide. At this point, the horizontal stiffness of the bearing becomes zero, significantly enhancing the seismic isolation effect of the elastic sliding plate bearing.
